A story

David & Corinne rent the Marais Bouron and the Gaillard marshes to the Community of Communes of the Island of Noirmoutier.

They are located in the direction of Herbaudière 800 meters as the crow flies behind the goat farm.

Abandoned for several decades, the Marais Gaillard restored, brought its first salt in the summer of 1996 followed by the Marais Bouron the following year. Hard work... thousands of shovels to extract the muds dried in the wind and in the sun invaded by weeds for years of abandonment...

After many years of conditioning and storing salt in the large garage of the house. The creation of a storage building arrives.

Batiment 13 rue des artisans

Subsequently, to store agricultural equipment, a second building was built.

A family

David & Corinne have two daughters.

Jodie, and me, Axelle.

Since small we are immersed in the work of our parents.

We go to the swamp, to the building to help with the packaging as well as to the markets.

We have always enjoyed helping our parents who have passed on their passion to us.

My spouse, Alex, also participated in this lifestyle. In August 2021 he helped David on the marshes and Corinne on the markets.

A passion

David and Corinne, wishing to reduce their activity, decided to sell their business and offered it to their children.

It was therefore Axelle and Alex who wanted to dive into the world of salt production.

At present La Gabelle is managed by the company named: Les Saveurs de La Gabelle.

It is a logical continuation and you will always be able to find Corinne on the markets!
